Creating this was therapy!
Have you ever been hiking, and thought... "ahh I'm almost where I'm trying to be?" But then, when you’re confronted with the reality of the valley along the way, decide that the journey is not worth the destination?
I felt that way about chasing a career in a field I was thriving in, only because I was really good at what I did. I was impressive, productive, and valuable and I absolutely loathed it. I was depressed, withering away, and uninspired.
I painted this for many days, using layers of acrylic pouring, smudging with rulers, and cracking with heat while I contemplated who, and what was worth 40 hours of my week...
One interesting thing to me was the fact that I have had this same deep and contemplative process with myself not only once but twice before in my life!
Now for the third time in a decade, I have decided that the world of corporate bullshit is not for me...
Having found great resolve to return to a pursuit of purpose, I moved on and up!
In the words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow:
“But still he answered,
with a sigh,
Excelsior!
I’m so glad.
