Nice to meet you!
I’m Josh, a Zimbabwean-born artist, art dealer, and cultural curator living in Lisbon, Portugal.
My creative practice spans painting, cyanotype, photography, and printmaking, often exploring themes of migration, belonging, and place. Recently, I’ve been focusing on painting birds as symbols of movement and identity, while also experimenting with layered cyanotypes that merge photography, painting, and the sun’s energy into one process. My works have been exhibited internationally and are part of public and private collections around the world.
Beyond my own studio practice, I also work with galerie gugging, where I manage online sales and digital strategy, and help connect collectors with some of the world’s most respected Art Brut and self-taught artists. I work closely with Nina Katschnig, the director of galerie gugging, whose vision and leadership have played a central role in transforming the narrative of Art Brut worldwide. Through this role, I have had the privilege of supporting exhibitions at major international art fairs and institutions, including viennacontemporary, Art Paris, the Venice Biennale, and of course at galerie gugging itself.
As a curator and cultural organizer, I’ve transformed unconventional spaces into galleries, led international residencies, and collaborated on projects that bring communities together through art. My curatorial approach is rooted in storytelling, whether in Singapore, Dresden, or Lisbon, I strive to create experiences that resonate across cultures and contexts.
This website and shop are an extension of that vision. My goal is to make art accessible across countries, backgrounds, and budgets, whether through original works, limited editions, or wearable pieces like my new t-shirt collection.
I’m always open to conversation, collaboration, and helping others achieve their goals within the arts. If you have ideas, requests, or projects in mind, feel free to reach out.
Much love,
Josh
