This painting has been a journey, mostly of pain and inconvenience but also of release and a pathway to peace..
I used a few stills from an MRI and x-ray of my right knee (2 broken joints, torn ligaments, and chipped off some cartilage)..
This painting was made as a result of many sleepless nights and ended prescriptions that led to a search for relief.
I’ve found great comfort in the “art as escapism” philosophy... I arrived at this understanding through physical pain, and have since begun to explore art as a tool for healing other pains... Those of life.
This artwork currently hangs in my house while it waits for the right collector.. I hang it from a corner, as the lived experience was so uneasy, I feel the visual tension of diagonal lines suites the artwork well.
