This woman captivated my attention 10 years ago when I photographed her in Esigodini, a village in Zimbabwe 10 years ago. Recently, this painting and this woman came to my remembrance and I decided to paint her on a piece of fabric I bought in Harare, Zimbabwe. A falcon in flight accompanies her. To me, this image feels like home. She seems a bit grumpy, but she is lovely.
