On June 20th I will present my debut painting exhibition in Lisbon: (i'm)migration.
This is a large scale installation at Loft Marvilla, during the Lisbon Queer Market. I have been building this for two years and now it is time for this body of work to enter the public space.
The installation will hold 17 original paintings, 20 hand-made cyanotype lamps, a print collage mural, and limited edition prints. It is designed to be walked through, and immersed in, not looked at.
The series documents my growing understanding of the relationship between physical place and our sense of belonging.
I have lived all over the world, migrating...
Like birds. Sometimes following resources, or opportunities, or leaving unsustainable environments.
In every place in the world, I have felt that I belonged, but I have also often felt drawn to move. As I migrate, I know that as God is faithful to look after the birds of the sky, He is faithful to look after me.
My identity and sense of belonging are not tied to physical place, but to my relationship with God, and looking for His hand in everything, and that exists in all seasons, in all corners of the earth.
This exhibition aims to be a catalyst for conversation about belonging, migration, identity, and where those innate human needs are rooted, and what the foundations of self mean in a geographically unsettled life.
The installation takes over a 4.5 by 4.5 metre space inside Loft Marvilla, one of Lisbon's most distinctive event venues (where I am also organising a 20-day Open Gallery in 1500 m2 of space, this August).
17 original paintings will hang across three walls. 20 handmade cyanotype lamps dangling from plants and shelves, each constructed from the same birds as the paintings, but from new sketches. These will be the sole light source, illuminating the space and the paintings. (Notice the fluorescent light in the photo - horrible).
A large print collage mural anchors the back wall. Limited edition prints will be available on the day.
The scale is deliberate. The light is deliberate. Every element of this installation has been designed to create a single coherent environment.
It is designed to engage the viewer physically, emotionally, and conversationally. In the environment of an Art market, with 100 other artists, this will stand out as a moment that moves you out of the market and into my world of imagination.
These are original acrylic and charcoal paintings on canvas, cyanotype on cotton fabric, and folded cyanotype lamps on bamboo paper.
Each work in the catalogue below will be present in the installation on June 20th.
I photographed, sketched, painted, sketched again, made a cyanotype, and collaged for each bird...

I am offering the first choice to those of you who have supported me along the way. Thank you for levelling up my skills with each new commission request!
Let me know if you'd like to add something to your collection. These will be publicly available from June 20th, 2026.
*The yellow painting is not available. It was made for someone from the beginning.
