What is EMERGE?
EMERGE is a two-week artist open studio at Loft Marvila, Lisbon
Hosted by COLLECTIVE works.
A space where art is created, exhibited, and promoted in real time.
Running from 10–22 August 2026, it combines daily open-studio access for working artists with a five-day programme of workshops, performances, and live events, closing with a final exhibition of work made throughout the festival.
At full capacity, EMERGE hosts up to 100 artists at a time in the studio, and up to 700 people for its evening events.
It's built for emerging and independent artists as a place to make new work, share it, build your creative community, and find an audience, all in the same 1,500 m² space.
There's more than one way to participate in EMERGE
Pick the one that fits what you're making, or come observe what is being made.
We welcome artists, art enthusiasts, and curious souls.
We have a full bar running for the entire festival.
Rent a section in a shared alcove
For big work that won't fit on a table such as paintings on canvas or large sculptures.
Alcove tickets give you your own ~4.3 m² space, and it is yours to use every day from 10-21 August, including the weekend.
10–21 August, 10:00–18:00, and until 21:00 on Fridays.
Includes 1 electricity socket per person, and 1 shared table per alcove.
Your ticket guarantees a spot in an alcove, but the exact placement within the alcove is on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 10am on Monday August 10th
Rent a section on a shared table
Work at a shared table alongside other artists in the main creative zone.
Monday–Friday across both weeks of the festival. A relaxed, sociable way to create in the space. This is best for artists who work small-scale on paper, in a sketchbook, crochet, knitting, collage, or digitally on a laptop/ iPad etc.
Includes a chair, and a reserved space on a table, with 3 artists per table. Your ticket guarantees a spot at a table, but the exact table is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Doors open at 10am on Monday, August 10th

Submit your art for the final exhibition
EMERGE closes on 22 August with a final exhibition built from work submitted by artists across the festival - both art created at EMERGE, and art made independently. This year's theme: what does it mean to be human?
Submissions are open to all Lisbon-based artists, with preference given to artists taking part in EMERGE.
Submit via our Google Form, and if selected, your piece will be shown (and available to buy) on the closing night.
Selected artists will be contacted via email.
